Oracle Sun SPARC Enterprise M4000 Server
Sun Oracle M4000 with Motherboard Cage
Sun SPARC Enterprise M4000 Server is a compact mid‑range UNIX enterprise rack server designed jointly by Sun Microsystems and Fujitsu. After Oracle acquired Sun, this server was included within Oracle’s SPARC server portfolioOracle. With a 6‑RU rack form‑factor, the system accepts up to two CPU modules with SPARC64 VI, SPARC64 VII or SPARC64 VII+ processors, supporting a maximum of 16 physical cores. It can be configured into up to two separate dynamic hardware domains. Each domain owns dedicated CPU, memory and I/O resources and runs an independent instance of Oracle Solaris 10, which helps server consolidation and isolates production and test environments. Maximum system memory reaches 256 GB DDR2. It is equipped with redundant hot‑swappable power supplies and fan assemblies to improve fault tolerance. The built‑in XSCF (Extended System Control Facility) service processor enables remote hardware monitoring, domain configuration and in‑band / out‑of‑band system diagnostics. Targeted for mission‑critical business environments, M4000 is deployed for OLTP database, financial backend systems, ERP and CRM applications. It delivers solid reliability for core enterprise UNIX computing workloads.
