Oracle SPARC T8‑2 Server
Oracle SPARC T8‑2 Server is a 3‑rack‑unit mid‑range enterprise rack‑mount UNIX server within Oracle SPARC‑T8 product family. The system is populated with two SPARC M8 processors running at 5.0 GHz, providing a total of 64 physical cores and 512 hardware execution threads. Each core supports 8 hardware threads, designed for highly‑threaded multi‑tasking enterprise computing. It supports up to 2 TB DDR4 ECC memory. Internal storage includes six 2.5‑inch hot‑swap drive bays supporting SAS HDD / SAS‑SSD as well as NVMe flash‑SSD; there are eight PCI‑E 3.0 expansion slots for network and storage adaptors. The second‑generation Software‑in‑Silicon on‑chip acceleration includes DAX analytics accelerators that speed‑up Oracle Database In‑Memory SQL queries, plus built‑in cryptographic accelerators to off‑load encryption‑decryption operations, improving both database performance and data security. The embedded Oracle ILOM service processor enables out‑of‑band remote hardware monitoring, firmware configuration, KVMS remote console and system diagnostics. It supports no‑cost virtualization: Oracle VM Server for SPARC (LDoms) logical domains and Solaris Zones for server consolidation. There is no PPAR physical hardware domain capability. Running Oracle Solaris 11 as primary OS (Solaris10 can run inside guest logical domains), the T8‑2 preserves binary compatibility for legacy UNIX applications. It is widely deployed for large‑scale database consolidation, Java application servers, heavy‑duty OLTP, ERP and financial backend core systemsOracle.
