Oracle Private Cloud Appliance X11 Management Node
The PCA X11 Management Node forms the core control‑plane of the Oracle Private Cloud Appliance X11 on‑premises engineered private‑cloud solution. While it utilises the same E6‑2L 2U rack‑mounted enterprise server hardware chassis as the X11 compute node, its software role is fundamentally different. Each management node is equipped with dual AMD EPYC‑9J25 Genoa CPUs (96‑cores per socket, total 192 physical cores). Memory supports up to 3 TB via 24 DDR5‑6400 RDIMM slots; a pair of local 2.5‑inch NVMe SSDs serves as the dedicated boot storage for the PCA management OS. The platform implements PCIe Gen‑5 and integrates onboard dual‑port 100 Gb/s RoCE adapters, enabling low‑latency communication across the internal rack data fabric with ZS11‑2 storage and all X11 compute nodes. Three management nodes are deployed by default, forming an active‑active HA control‑plane cluster. This cluster delivers all centralised appliance services: PCA infrastructure orchestration, OCI‑compatible REST API endpoint, system monitoring, alerting, firmware lifecycle management, authentication, and coordination with the backend ZFS storage subsystem. Crucially, management nodes do not run the KVM hypervisor and cannot host end‑user tenant virtual machine instances. All tenant VM workloads are exclusively deployed onto the dedicated X11 compute nodes. The entire X11 appliance requires PCA software version 3.0.2 or newer. Inter‑generation mixing with PCA‑X10 hardware within the same rack is unsupported.
