Oracle ZFS Storage ZS9‑2
Oracle ZFS Storage ZS9‑2 delivers the high‑availability shared storage foundation for the earlier‑generation Oracle Private Cloud Appliance X9‑2 and X10 engineered on‑premises private‑cloud systems. The subsystem consists of two 2‑rack‑unit ZS9‑2 storage controllers forming an active‑active HA cluster to eliminate single‑point‑of‑failure. It connects to one or multiple DE3‑24 disk expansion enclosures to scale total storage capacity. Leveraging the proven Oracle Hybrid Storage Pool technology, ZS9‑2 dynamically tiers DRAM memory, flash cache devices and backend HDD/SSD media, optimising I/O performance for virtual‑machine workloads hosted on PCA X10 compute nodes. Inside the PCA‑X10 rack environment, ZS9‑2 integrates into the internal 100Gb RoCE data fabric, supplying high‑performance shared block volumes for tenant virtual machines. It provides native enterprise storage features including thin‑provisioning, VM disk snapshots, clones and data replication. Storage capacity can be horizontally extended by deploying extra DE3‑24 disk shelves within the PCA rack. Firmware interoperability must be strictly aligned with PCA software release 3.0.1 or older releases. Important hardware restriction: ZS9‑2 is certified only for X9‑2 / X10 PCA racks. It cannot be deployed within PCA‑X11 racks, which mandate the newer ZS11‑2 storage subsystem.
