Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240 Server

The Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240 is a 2U rack‑mount enterprise server originally launched by Sun Microsystems, later maintained under Oracle. This legacy platform has reached official end‑of‑life statusOracle.

It is powered by dual UltraSPARC T2‑Plus CMT (Chip‑Multi‑Threading) processors. CPU configurations offer 4‑core, 6‑core or 8‑core options with clock speeds of 1.2 GHz, 1.4 GHz or 1.6 GHz. Each processor delivers up to 64 hardware threads, for a total maximum of 128 threads within the chassis. The on‑chip crypto acceleration engine helps boost SSL‑related workload performance, making the server suitable for multi‑threaded application services and database environmentsOracle.

Compared with the 1U T5140 model, the T5240 provides expanded memory and storage capacity. It supports up to 32 FB‑DIMM memory slots for a maximum of 256 GB system RAM. The internal storage bay accommodates up to sixteen hot‑swap 2.5‑inch SAS hard‑drives. There are four onboard Gigabit Ethernet ports, a dedicated ILOM service‑processor management port for out‑of‑band remote administration, and multiple PCI‑Express expansion slots. Redundant AC power supplies are standard, and DC power SKU is also availableOracle.

Operating‑system support is restricted to SPARC builds of Solaris 10 and Solaris 11; x86 Linux and Windows cannot be installed on this hardware. Comprehensive RAS capabilities include hot‑swap fans and disks, continuous hardware health monitoring via ILOM firmware.
