Oracle Netra SPARC T4‑1 Server

The Netra SPARC T4‑1 is a carrier‑grade, NEBS‑certified 2U rack‑mount enterprise server originally developed by Sun Microsystems and later maintained by Oracle. This platform has reached official end‑of‑life status, targeted primarily for telecommunications and network infrastructure deploymentsOracle.

It is equipped with a single SPARC T4 processor running at 2.85 GHz, available in either 4‑core (32 hardware threads) or 8‑core (64 hardware threads) configurations. The SPARC T4 chip integrates on‑chip crypto acceleration to deliver high‑speed encryption performance for network‑heavy workloads. The system provides 16 DDR3 DIMM memory slots supporting a maximum of 256 GB RAM. Internal storage offers up to four hot‑swap 2.5‑inch SAS‑2 hard‑disk bays plus one slimline DVD‑RW drive.

For I/O expansion, the server includes multiple PCI‑Express 2.0 low‑profile slots. Networking consists of four onboard Gigabit Ethernet ports, alongside a dedicated Oracle ILOM 3.x service‑processor management port for out‑of‑band remote system administration, hardware monitoring, power control and KVMS redirection. Redundant, hot‑swappable 1200 W power supplies support both AC and DC input for telecom‑room environments, with N+1 redundant fan modules for high reliability.

Supported operating systems are Oracle Solaris 10 and Solaris 11 for SPARC; x86 operating systems are not compatible. Logical domain virtualization (Oracle VM Server for SPARC / LDOMs) is supported to consolidate multiple guest environments on one physical host
