Sun Netra T5220 Server
The Sun Netra T5220 is a NEBS‑Level‑3 certified carrier‑grade 2U rack‑mount server developed by Sun Microsystems (later acquired by Oracle). This telecommunications‑optimized legacy platform is officially end‑of‑life, designed for reliable deployment inside central‑office telecom environmentsOracle.
It utilizes a single UltraSPARC T2 CMT processor running at 1.2 GHz with configurable core options: 4‑core (32 threads), 6‑core (48 threads), or 8‑core (64 threads). The on‑chip crypto acceleration engine delivers high throughput for encrypted network services. The system contains 16 FB‑DIMM memory slots supporting a maximum of 64 GB RAM. For internal storage, there are two possible configurations: up to two hot‑swap 2.5‑inch SAS hard drives together with a slimline DVD‑RW drive, or up to four hot‑swap 2.5‑inch SAS hard drives without the optical drive; the embedded disk controller supports hardware RAID 0 and RAID 1Oracle.
Expansion includes PCI‑Express and PCI‑X slots. Network interfaces comprise four onboard Gigabit Ethernet ports, plus a dedicated ILOM service‑processor management port for out‑of‑band remote administration. Dual hot‑swappable 660 W N+1‑redundant power supplies accept both AC and ‑48 VDC telecom‑grade power input, and the unit features a hardware telco alarm output for network‑room monitoring. This server only runs SPARC versions of Solaris 10 and Solaris 11, and supports Oracle VM Server for SPARC (LDOMs) virtualization.
