The Sun Netra T5440 is a NEBS‑Level‑3 certified carrier‑grade 4U rack‑mount server developed by Sun Microsystems and later supported under Oracle. This end‑of‑life telecommunications‑focused platform is designed for deployment inside central‑office telecom facilities, delivering high‑threading performance and robust telco‑grade reliabilityOracle.

It is powered by dual UltraSPARC T2 CMT processors. Each CPU is available in 6‑core (48‑thread) or 8‑core (64‑thread) configurations, delivering a total of up to 96 or 128 hardware threads. On‑chip crypto acceleration provides strong throughput for encrypted network services. The system has 32 FB‑DIMM memory slots supporting a maximum of 256 GB RAM. Internal storage accommodates up to twelve hot‑swap 2.5‑inch SAS hard‑disk bays with integrated hardware RAID 0 / RAID 1 support, plus one slimline slot‑loading DVD‑RW optical driveOracle.

Expansion capability includes a mixture of PCI‑Express and PCI‑X slots. Network interfaces feature four onboard Gigabit Ethernet ports and a dedicated ILOM service‑processor management port for out‑of‑band remote server administration, hardware monitoring and console redirection.
