Sun Fire X4270 is a 2U rack-mount two-socket x86 server from Sun Microsystems. It supports one or two Intel Xeon 5500 series quad-core CPUs, designed for mission-critical Oracle Database, application services and storage-intensive deployments. The system has 18 DDR3 ECC registered DIMM slots with maximum memory capacity up to 144GB. Equipped with SAS RAID controller, it can accommodate up to 16 × 2.5-inch hot-plug SAS/SATA HDD or SSD, delivering abundant local storage capacity. It provides six PCIe 2.0 low-profile expansion slots for HBAs, network adapters and acceleration cards. Four integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports are available on the rear panel. Redundant hot-swappable power supplies and hot-plug fan modules eliminate single points of failure. Sun ILOM service processor enables remote lights-out management, KVM, hardware monitoring and fault diagnosis. It is a classic 2U storage-rich platform widely used in Oracle engineered systems and on-premise data centers.
