Sun Fire X4270 M2 is the upgraded M2 generation of Sun Fire X4270, a 2U rack-mount two-socket enterprise x86 server. It supports one or two Intel Xeon 5600 series multi-core processors, delivering improved core density and power efficiency for storage-oriented workloads. The server has 18 DDR3 ECC RDIMM slots, supporting up to 144GB of 1333MHz registered memory. It has two front drive configurations: up to 12 × 3.5-inch, or up to 24 × 2.5-inch hot-plug SAS/SATA HDD/SSD when equipped with a hardware RAID controller. It also supports optional rear 2.5-inch boot drives. It is equipped with six low-profile PCIe 2.0 x8 expansion slots for HBAs, InfiniBand adapters and network accelerators. Four integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports are onboard. Redundant hot-swappable power supplies and N+1 hot-plug fan modules eliminate single points of failure. Sun ILOM service processor provides remote KVM, power management, hardware monitoring and fault diagnosis. This platform is a classic node for Oracle Big Data Appliance, Recovery Appliance and database consolidation clusters.
